Judd Otis
Judd (Coursey) got into radio in Buffalo, New York after serving in the Navy in Vietnam. He went on to put in a five-year stint working nights at WDRC in Hartford, Connecticut, KBBQ and KULF Houston, KPUR and KQIZ Amarillo, KXGL and KJQY, both in San Diego, as well as stations in Massachusetts, Kentucky, Tennessee, and New York.
In the early 1980’s Judd got out of radio and came to Florida where he opened a cycle shop in Tampa. After starting a part-time job with WHBO, the right people heard him and, before he knew it, he was back in the business full time, teamed with Bob DeCarlo (who had also worked for WDRC) on W-101 WUSA’s two-man morning show, “Bob & Judd.” The show had a great run, too – from 1982 to 1996.
Judd died of stomach cancer in 2001 at the age of 55.
