Bob Higby



For over 20 years, Bob was a radio and TV news figure in Tampa Bay. He joined WFLA AM & FM as news director in 1970 after two decades with WDAF in Kansas City, Missouri, part of that time as its news director. He also appeared as the moderator for a quiz show for teens (“Categorically Speaking”) on WFLA-TV for several years, and went on to work for radio stations WWBA and WTYM.

Bob, who had a history of heart problems, died in his sleep on June 5, 1991 while vacationing in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He was 65.
