Jay Miller
Jay Patrick Miller’s radio career spanned 20 years, taking him to jobs from Chicago to Florida. His first gig in the Tampa Bay area was mornings at Sarasota’s WYND in the early 80’s. In 1987 he joined WQYK AM/FM as PD and was elevated to GM in 1991.
He is credited with discovering a 17-year old Tom Rivers, the legendary country music deejay who rose through the WQYK ranks from the night shift to morning host, then became assistant music director, program director, operations manager, and finally, general manager.
After retiring from WQYK in 1996, Jay moved to Brooksville. He passed away at his home there from kidney cancer on November 15, 2008 at the age of 57.
