Jerry Walker
Jerry landed his first radio job doing weekend air work at Tampa soul station WTMP while he was still a teen. Years later he became program director there, pulled the morning shift, and hosted “Victory,” a gospel music program on the station. The popular Tampa Bay deejay also worked with WDAE, hosted W-101 WUSA's night time “Pillow Talk,” was production director and did mid-days at WLCY, and was even a VJ and music director at Lakeland’s former all video TV station WTMV (V-32).
After getting into drugs and running afoul of the law in the 1980’s, he left radio but eventually was able to turn his life around. He returned to using his real name (Andrew Lee Manning, Jr.) and became an evangelist, using the experiences in his own life to minister and work with those less fortunate.
Jerry passed away March 8, 2011 at the age of 58.
