Doug Montgomery

Doug and his business partner, Don Lamerson, formed Winter Haven Broadcasting in 1963 to buy top 40 WINT-AM from owners Angelo Fazzari and Bruce Parker. They sold the operation three years later to Norman O. Protsman (Suwannee Broadcasting).

While running WINT, which ran a top 40 format, Doug took an interest in local garage bands and managed one of the area’s most popular groups, The Spades. After selling the Winter Haven station, he moved to Florida’s east coast where he joined Daytona Beach stations WROD and WMFJ, and WOGO in New Smyrna Beach.
