Gordon Byrd

Gordon made his radio debut at the age of 13 when he called in to Ed Ripley who was hosting WDAE’s talker "Point of View." For several minutes he continued talking into a dead phone because he didn’t realize that Ripley had hung up on him after the first couple of sentences. The first time he sat in front of a microphone, though, was when he was 18, in the summer of 1979 when WMNF was tuning up to go on the air.

He’s been a caller, call screener, board operator, talk show host, APD, program director, news writer, news anchor, outside reporter, stringer and occasional remote engineer for Tampa Bay stations WFNN, News Talk 57 WPLP, WTIS, Clearwater’s Sun Radio Network, WTKN (PD), and AM-1250 Impact Radio WHNZ.

Since 2007, Gordon has been in the newsroom at Newsradio 970 WFLA while continuing his work with WHNZ.
