Bill Calder

Bill began his radio career at KSJO-AM in San Jose, CA in 1957 and, during his lengthy career, worked in many of the major markets, including San Francisco, Boston, Houston, St. Louis, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Chicago, and New York. In addition to radio, he also hosted a TV talk show at KHJ in Los Angeles (1963) and KPRC-TV in Houston (1964-65).

He loved the South Florida area, especially Miami. Maybe that’s why he returned numerous times to work there (WINZ 1961 and 1983; WIOD various times in the 1960’s, plus 1976 and 1986; WJNO 1975; WKAT; WQAM 1988; and WNWS sometime after 1986). He was also Larry King's radio sidekick during Larry's Miami talk show hosting days.

Bill passed away from cancer in 1990, a few years after a couple brief stops in Tampa Bay at St Pete’s WNSI (1981) and WFLA (1986).
