Read Shepherd
Read is a native of Tiffin, Ohio and worked with Cox Broadcasting’s WWRM-FM (Magic 94.9) in Tampa Bay beginning in 1988. For over a dozen years, he was part of the station’s “Shepherd and Shepherd Most Music Morning Show” with then-wife Ann Shepherd (now WWRM’s Ann Kelly). In 2001, he did morning news for (“The Dove”) WDUV.
The graduate of Bowling Green State University began his professional broadcasting career in Gallipolis, Ohio, in 1977. A year later, he moved to WKEE/Huntington, West Virginia, followed by seven years as a reporter with WSPD/Toledo beginning in 1980. While there, he served as president of the Northwest Ohio chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and taught a course in journalism as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Toledo.
Over the years, Read has won numerous awards for his reporting and today (2009) is afternoon news anchor at Clear Channel’s WGY in Schenectady, New York.
