Cox Radio, Inc. is one of the largest radio broadcasting companies in the United States, and operates, acquires and develops radio stations primarily in markets ranked 10-70. A majority of its stations are concentrated in the Sunbelt.
The company entered broadcasting in 1934 with the establishment of WHIO in Dayton, OH and, today (2009) is part of the Cox Media Group, which owns, operates and provides sales and marketing services to 86 stations in 19 markets. This radio portfolio includes 71 FM stations and 15 AM stations. In 16 of its 19 markets, it operates three or more stations. Cox also syndicates a variety of radio programs, including Neal Boortz and Clark Howard.
Cox stations in Florida include WSUN-FM, WHPT-FM, WXGL-FM, WWRM-FM, WPOI-FM, WDUV-FM, in Tampa Bay; WOKV, WXXJ-FM, WJGL-FM, WFYV-FM, WAPE-FM in Jacksonville; WEDR-FM, WHQT-FM, WFLC-FM, WHDR-FM in Miami; and WMMO-FM, WHTQ-FM, WPYO-FM, WWKA-FM, WDBO-AM, WCFB-FM in the Orlando market.
