Nikki Sandler
Nikki cut her teeth in the world of radio during college at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where she earned her BA in Broadcast Programming and Production in 1981. She was campus station WUSF’s rock music director and host of its "Free Form Radio” (1978-1981), and also host of community station WMNF’s “Free Form Rock” (1979-1982). For a year (1981-1982), she worked in commercial radio as production director/producer for St. Pete’s short-lived news/talk WNSI.
More recently, as Nicole Sandler, she’s been a PD and music director, done promotions, served as a marketing director, and worked in multiple formats – AAA, classic rock, and talk. She’s produced high profile shows like “Jim Kerr and the Morning Crew” at WPLJ and Bob Grant at WMCA in New York, and “Mark & Brian” at KLOS in Los Angeles. Add to that hosting or co-hosting mornings at L.A.’s KSCA and San Diego’s 91X, and afternoons at Boston’s WXRV and L.A.’s Channel 103.1. She’s also done freelance work and been a regular fill-in host on Air America Radio for Rachel Maddow, Ron Reagan, Thom Hartmann, and Air America Live.
In 2005, she moved back to South Florida, hired to produce a new local morning show on Clear Channel’s South Florida's progressive talk WINZ. A year later, she found herself in the host's chair, but soon had to give it up when the station flipped to a sports format.
Today (2010), Nikki goes by Nicole, and hosts a daily podcast, “Radio or Not – The Nicole Sandler Online Radio Program & Blog.”
