Al Gardner

Although born in Philadelphia, Al spent his childhood in Levittown, PA, and received his education from Temple University and Glassboro State Teachers College. His long career in radio and TV includes a stint in Tampa Bay beginning in 1989 when he pulled mornings (“Gardner and Company”) at WFLA before moving to afternoons in early 1994.

Gardner joined WBT in Charlotte, NC in September 1997, and co-hosted the station’s 5 to 9 A.M. morning news block, “Charlotte’s Morning News” until moving across town to WZGV-AM in late 2013. In November 2014, he announced that he was retiring and moving to Little River, SC near Myrtle Beach.

During his many years as an anchor and reporter, Al’s been recognized for his outstanding work by the Radio-Television News Directors Association, the Associated Press, and other news organizations.
