Jay Rich

While Lakeland native and Lakeland High School Class of ’68 alumnus Jay Rich was earning his BA degree in speech & theatre at Stetson University (1970-1973), he was also working in Polk County radio – first for Auburndale’s WTWB (1967-1968), and then Lakeland’s WONN (evenings 1968-1970) and WVFM (1970-1972).

His interests turned to television in 1972, and he became a reporter/photographer and then weatherman for Orlando’s WFTV channel 9. A few years later, he began doing video production work for various religious organizations and then became a freelance production director/engineer/editor for ESPN, MediaComm, and Virta Mediacommunity. He also taught ‘final cut’ editing at the Carolina School of Broadcasting.

Today (2010), Jay does TV production work and owns Rich Experience, Inc., a real estate business, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
