WMGG - A History

WMGG-FM 95.7 Clearwater – Tampa Bay’s 95.7 FM (previously WTAN-FM, 96 Fever WOKF, and 96 Kix WCKX) became Metroplex Communications’ adult contemporary Magic 96 WMGG-FM in 1982. Four years later, it flipped to W-Lite 95.7 WNLT.

Some names from WMGG-FM history include Norman Wain (president of Metroplex Communications), Jim Johnson (GM-1983), Wally Sale (PD/music director-1983), Scott Robbins (promotions-1983), Ben Umberger (chief engineer-1983), Jeff Laurence, Marvelous Marvin Boone, “Party Marti” Ryan, Gary Ballinger, Rick Bruce (Rick Randall), Rick Marino, Peter Jay Callahan (Tre’ Connor), and Ron Scott (mid-days).
