WSAA - A History

WSAA-AM 620 St. Petersburg – In late 1998, Cox Radio swapped its WSUN AM-620 for 97.1 WLVU-FM, an easy listening station owned by Concord Media Group (Mark W. Jorgenson, president) and licensed to Holiday in Pasco County.

In January 1999, Concord adopted the call letters WSAA for AM-620 and launched an audio simulcast of Bay News 9, Time Warner cable’s all news channel. 97.1 FM took on an oldies format and became WSUN-FM.

Clear Channel acquired WSAA in early 2000 and moved The Sports Animal WDAE from its long-time home on 1250 kHz (since 1922) to AM-620.
