John Parker
John was a native of Tampa and, in the early 70’s, worked various airshifts as a deejay with WQYK at the old Kennedy Boulevard studios while studying to be a physician’s assistant. As a graduate of one of the first physician's assistant programs, he became the first chief of paramedics for Hillsborough County, and assisted in writing protocols for paramedics with Doctors Straub, Amey and Harrison.
He also was a computer programmer and wrote databases for MLS tax rolls with some of the first photos online for prospective buyers. His abiding passion, however, was photography, the skills of which he perfected in the lab of the Tampa Tribune.
John passed away in his sleep June 17, 2011 at the age of 68.
