Scott Dennis

Scott Dennis began his dream to be on the radio after listening to his inspirations, Cleveland Wheeler and Scott Shannon, on Q105’s “Q-Morning Zoo.”  Once, at a school dance, he even had a chance meeting with Wheeler, who gave the aspiring deejay some pointers and advice.

To get the “show on the road,” one day he walked in and introduced himself at Winter Haven’s WZNG, and began to hang out there in his spare time. He made air checks in the production studio and, from time to time, forwarded them to Wheeler who critiqued them. When he was just 14 years old, management asked him to come in on Saturdays and Sundays and turn the transmitters on and do the weekend morning show. Once he turned 16 and was able to drive, he was hired at WIPC in Lake Wales (weekend afternoons) and Haines City’s Golden 93 (afternoons). Following high school graduation in 1983, he landed the overnight shift on Q105 before moving to Savannah’s FM 102.1 WZAT.

After years doing wedding receptions and parties through his Orlando mobile deejay business, Scott still has the “radio bug,” and today (2011), hosts ‘The Morning Gospel Cruise” on 90.1 WTJT-FM, a station airing a Christian format in the Ft. Walton Beach area.
