Peggy Cook

Peggy Cook was born in Steubenville, Ohio and moved to Haines City in 1959 from Hornell, New York. She and her husband, Richard, established Haines City’s WHAN in 1960 and operated the station until they sold it in 1968.  

For some 35 years, she was a school bus driver for Polk County, and served as a disaster relief shelter manager for the American Red Cross. After her first husband died, she married Charles Witcher and made her home in Winter Haven.

Peggy was 81 at the time of her passing from heart failure, August 9, 2011.
