Fez Whatley

Fez ‘Marie’ Whatley (Todd Hillier) graduated from Pinellas Park High School in 1982 and originally became well known as a producer and contributor to WYNF and WSUN’s “The Ron and Ron Show” (Ron Diaz and Ron Bennington). After the two Rons split in 1997, Whatley teamed up with Bennington in 2000 to co-host “The Ron and Fez Show” (then titled “Ron and Fez Dot Com”) on New York City’s WNEW-FM and a number of other FM markets around the country via syndication.

When the show left the air in New York City in 2002 (as well as most of the other markets), Whatley and Bennington moved to Washington, DC’s WJFK-FM. Then, in 2004, they returned to Tampa Bay’s airwaves in the 1 PM to 3 PM slot on The Buzz WBZZ-AM 1010 after the station abandoned its sports/talk and adopted a new talk format. In 2005, “The Ron and Fez Show” began airing on XM Satellite Radio.

Fez retired in 2015 with health issues and, after suffering a series of heart attacks, passed away in August 2021 at the age of 57.
