Dana McKay

Dana doesn’t use a last name on the air, but it’s McKay if you really want to know. This Waltham, Massachusetts native got her first radio gig as an intern at the age of 14 after touring Boston’s WZOU. Following high school, she left radio for a couple years to study accounting. However, that ended when she finally admitted to herself that radio was her first love.

After getting back into the business as a board op at a sports station in Worcester, Massachusetts, she landed her first on-air job in 1999 doing weekends at Portland, Maine’s Q97.9 WJBQ. From there, it was nights at 98Q WDAQ/Danbury, Connecticut and weekends and fill-in for Mix 98.5 WBMX/Boston before joining Tampa’s 93.3 FLZ in 2002 to do middays. Three years later, she was the night deejay and host of “The Girly Spot,” a late-night talk show for women on CBS’s WTIC/Hartford, until the station went the syndication route and she was laid off.

Dana returned to Florida in 2010 and held down the midday slot at Tampa Bay’s Play 98.7 WSJT until the station flipped to Sports Radio 98.7 The Fan WHFS on August 2, 2012. Since then, she's done voice-tracking work for various iHeart stations around the country and held down Sunday afternoons on Tampa Bay's Mix 100.7 WMTX.

In late 2022, she became executive producer and co-host of 970 WFLA's "AM Tampa Bay" with Jack Harris and "The Ryan Gorman Show".
