WNLT - A History
WNLT-FM 95.7 Clearwater – Metroplex Communications took its 100,000-watt adult contemporary Magic 96 WMGG-FM and flipped it to W-Lite 95.7 WNLT in 1986. In 1990, it flipped WNLT to Mix 96 WMTX. About that time, the operation relocated from 51 South Main Avenue in Clearwater to 18167 U.S. 19 North.
Names in WNLT history include Jon Pinch (GM-1986), Scott Robbins (PD/music director-1986), Chary Southmayd (news director-1986), Ben Umberger (chief engineer-1986), Bill Werts (nat’l sales manager-1987), Kevin Malone (local sales manager-1987), Al Casey (PD-1987), Rick Brown (music director-1987), Debbie Erickson (promotions manager-1987), Mary Ruth Austin (news director-1987), Randy Braun (local sales manager-1990), Chuck Crane (PD-1990), Kirsten Leigh (promotions manager-1990), and Charlie Davis (news director-1990).
