Curt Leonard
Curt got into the radio business on an impulse. In 1948, after attending Brown University, he walked into a radio station in Providence, Rhode Island, and auditioned as a staff announcer. The following year, he enrolled in Boston’s American School of Broadcasting and then joined a TV station in Rehoeth, Massachusetts.
The Korean War interrupted his work in 1951. Three years later, he resumed his broadcasting career in Massachusetts and moved to Attleboro’s WARA and then to WNRI in Woonsocket as an announcer and its station manager.
In the early 1960’s, the sun and fun of Florida brought Curt to WSUN where he hosted the station’s popular afternoon “Home and Highway” show.
