WLFW - A History

WLFW-AM 680 St. Petersburg – In 1982, WWBA, Inc. (Ed Winton, president) changed the calls of its nostalgia AM-680 from WWLF to WLFW. Studios were at 9549 Koger Boulevard in the Koger Office Center off 4th Street North in St. Petersburg. The tower/transmitter site was behind Derby Lane racetrack on Gandy Boulevard.

The one-kilowatt daytimer was acquired by Century Broadcasting in 1985 and became Music Of Your Life WLFF.

Other names in WLFW history include Bill Dutcher (GM-1982), Dave McKay (PD-1982), Bob Higby (news director-1982), Ed Gorman (chief engineer-1982), and Ted Wolfe (sales manager-1985).
