Alvis Sherouse

At Tampa’s WALT Radio, Alvis was deejay Page Kinsey during the years 1960 to 1964. From there, he moved across the street to WPKM and WFLA before enlisting in the Army.

After graduating from the University of South Florida in 1971, the Tampa native worked at WQYK for a while and then moved to the Miami area where, in 1974, he became Alan Corbett, air personality and operations director for Miami classical station WTMI. It was while working there in 1990 that South Florida Magazine named him the city’s best deejay.

Sherouse died in 1994 from a massive heart attack while working in WTMI’s production room. The 20-year station veteran was only 51.
