Marty McFly
 |
Marty got his start in radio in 1985 when a close friend told him that it was an easy way to make money. His moniker came from Michael J. Fox’s character in the motion picture “Back to the Future.” So far, his career has taken him through Nashville’s Y107, nights (with Hawk Harrison) in the early 1990’s at The Power Pig WFLZ in Tampa, KNIX in Phoenix, Greenville, SC’s B93.7, Nashville’s WSIX, and WGSQ in Cookeville (TN).
He’s been nominated four times for “CMA Air Personality of the Year” and three times for “ACM Air Personality of the Year,” and has helped his stations win a combined nine CMA/ACM “Station of the Year” awards. In 1993, he was nominated Bobby Poe Magazine’s “Large Market Air Personality of the Year” and, in 1996, Billboard’s “Air Personality of the Year.”
In February 2014, McFly, based in Music City, moved from morning personality and PD for Nashville’s WKDF-FM to Cumulus’ co-owned country WSM-FM for wakeups. He also continues to host a Saturday night two-hour syndicated country concert show called “The Live Ride with Marty McFly.”
