Peter J. Callahan

At the age of 19, Peter (real name Tre’ Conner) got his first radio job with Tampa Bay’s Y-95 WLCY-FM. Going by the name Pete Jackson (and nicknamed the Tape City Kid), he was responsible for running the public affairs programming and Casey Kasem’s “American Top 40” from midnight to 9AM on Sunday morning.

In 1978 he moved on to other area stations, becoming Pete Moss at Clearwater’s WAZE, Peter Collins at Q105 WRBQ, and Peter J. Callahan at Magic 96 WMGG, WSUN, WDAE and Zephyrhills’ WPAS where he was PD and MD from 1979 to 1981.

From 1982 to 1984, Peter worked for a couple Gainesville (FL) stations, doing afternoons on WGGG and nights at Kiss 105 WYKS, before WLKF/Lakeland came calling and hired him as its night man and music director. Leaving Lakeland in 1985, he returned to Tampa Bay, first to do the music and 7-midnight air shift using his real name at WPDS-FM in Tampa, and then programming and production duties for Bradenton’s WDUV-FM.

In 1989, he made a life-altering change in his career and moved into Christian radio as Peter Lloyd, first as promotions director and mid-day guy with WJIS-FM in Sarasota and, two years later, afternoon drive and the music for the K-LOVE Radio Network in Santa Rosa, CA.

In 1993, Peter joined His Radio based in Greenville, SC where, for almost the next twenty years, he pulled afternoon drive. Now out of radio since March 2012 after His Radio downsized, he currently heads his own voiceover business, Creative Media Productions.

UPDATE 10-20-2020 - Peter is now back in radio and on the air in Northeast Georgia, playing hits from the 60's, 70's and 80's at 107.7 The. Breeze.
