E. P. Martin
E.P. Martin was a Tampa attorney and Plant City resident who served in the Florida House of Representatives as a Democrat representing Hillsborough County (1937-1948). A run for the post of Florida’s attorney general in 1940 and 1944 were unsuccessful.
In 1950, he and his wife, Alpha, formed Hillsboro Broadcasting Company and founded Tampa radio station WEBK. It was a daytimer with offices and studios at 1521 E. Broadway in Ybor City, and became the first station in the Tampa Bay area to broadcast a local talk show devoted to community issues.
Martin sold WEBK to Walter Tison in 1956 and passed away in 1959 at the age of 72.
