Bill began his broadcasting career in 1957 with Armed Forces Radio (AFRS) in Puerto Rico while in the Air Force. When he got out in 1959, he joined WMDF in Mt. Dora, and went on to hit many popular central Florida stations, including Daytona Beach’s WMFJ and WROD, Orlando’s WABR and WHOO, and stations in Leesburg, Eustis, New Smyrna Beach, and Deland. He also helped his brother build WZZZ in Boynton Beach and became manager and part owner of WVGT in Mt. Dora.
The Umatilla (FL) native’s last radio job was as program director at WPUL in Bartow in 1978 and 1979, where he pulled the morning sign-on shift and hosted the popular "Trading Post" show. In the early 1980’s, he gave up his broadcasting career to become a communications technician for Motorola, and then switched to print advertising sales for The Shopper and Polk County Democrat in Bartow. After retiring in 2000, he continued to work part time as a driver for a Ft. Meade car dealership.
Bill passed away March 16th, 2013 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale at the age of 75.
