Dollars & Sense
Laura is a Certified Financial Planner and Corporate Vice-President for Allen & Company in Lakeland and the host and executive producer of the talk show Dollars & Sense, Wednesday afternoons from 5 to 6pm on WLKF. It’s a topic-driven call-in show dealing with all aspects of the world of finance and has been a weekly program on WLKF since 1990. Often special guests join Laura on the program to field phone calls from listeners who have questions about their personal financial situation.
In 1983 Laura joined Allen & Company following graduation from Florida Southern College where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. Three years later she successfully completed the necessary course work to attain the designation of Certified Financial Planner. In 2001, she was elected to the Board of Directors of Allen & Company and currently (2006) serves as Chairperson of the Executive Committee.
A recognized leader in the community, Laura has served on the board for Good Shepherd Hospice, The Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland, the Chamber of Commerce, the City of Lakeland Civil Service and Pension Board, and The Bethany Center of Polk County.
