J. Paul Robinson
J. Paul Robinson was Ohio native Barney Groven, formerly with KEPO El Paso, WTOD Toledo, and KRIZ Phoenix. He also spent time in Louisville at WKLO where he was program director from 1959 to 1962, and again in 1964.
In 1965 Barney switched from programming to news and joined Tampa Bay’s top 40 WLCY, the station where his former wife, Dottie, worked overnights as the sensuous “Lolita.” While there he was consulted several radio stations, including WKKE in Ashville, North Carolina.
In 1975, after Barney married his second wife, Carlotta, ex-wife of WLCY PD Roy Nilson, he left radio to go into another line of business. He was still working in 1998 when he passed away from lung cancer at the age of 62.
