Tom Dunkin

Tom was from Los Angeles and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1952 with a degree in journalism. His first few years were spent writing for the Tampa Tribune and Orlando Sentinel.

From the mid 1950’s to early 1960’s, Tom covered various aspects of the Castro revolution in Cuba for WSUN Radio and TV, and St. Petersburg’s two local newspapers, the Times and Independent. He also wrote for Soldier of Fortune magazine and La Gaceta, a Cuban newspaper printed in Tampa, and was a spot news reporter for WDAE.

Although he nominally retired in 1987, Tom continued to work as a freelance journalist and photographer and had become a division judge and part-time worker with the Ft. Pierce (FL) Police Department at the time of his death in 1994.
