Darek Sharp
Darek began his radio career at WPLA during his senior year of high school as a part-time board op for Cincinnati Reds baseball games. After graduation in 1988, the Plant City native took a job with his hometown newspaper, The Courier, and attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, both while continuing to work in radio.
When WPLA became Sportsradio 910 WFNS and moved its operations to Tampa in 1990, the Plant City native stayed on to produce shows for “The Fabulous Sports Babe” (Nanci Donnellan) and Steve Duemig, and direct Tampa Bay Lightning broadcasts. After the station was sold and its sports format dropped in the mid 1990’s, he moved to overnights at WFLA for a short time, then joined WDAE The Sports Animal in 1997.
Twenty years later, in 2017, Darek became the Program Director of the University of South Florida Bulls' Unlimited Radio Network.
