Tom Sanchez
After completing high school in his hometown of Sarasota, Florida, Tom went on to attend Furman University for a year and then transferred to Florida State where he landed his first job in radio. Somehow he found time to complete his degree (in Literature, with a minor in Film Theory and Criticism) while hosting the “Sunday Jazz” show on Tallahassee’s WBGM, writing for the college paper, and working three summers as a taxonomist with Sarasota County’s Mosquito Control.
Tom’s love for radio (and jazz) paid off. He worked at The Wave 102½ in the early 1990’s and from 1995 to 2006 hosted WJST’s 7 to midnight “Smooth Jazz After Dark.”
