Jon Anthony

Jon ‘RockNRoll’ Anthony (Thomas Andrew Tuggle) was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and got his first radio job during his junior year of high school at WLPH, a religious station in nearby Irondale. In 1974, he joined Birmingham’s Top 40 WSGN and his career took off in a hurry. It wasn’t long before his stops included WOKY/ Milwaukee, WMPS/Memphis, KX 104 WWKX/Nashville, WAVA-FM/Washington, DC, and WZOU-FM/Boston.

In 1985 he began a long run in Tampa Bay, first doing 7-10 pm on WRBQ Q105 and then afternoon drive at then-oldies Z93 WFLZ. He was PD for Sarasota’s Oldies 106 WSRZ-FM, worked at WRBQ again (during their country music period), served as production director for 93.3 WFLZ and 970 WFLA, and ran his own voiceover talent and digital audio production company, Jon Anthony Productions.

Jon passed away from cancer on December 30th, 2012.
