Nancy Alexander
Nancy began her climb to the top of Tampa Bay’s media personality ladder as “Nancy in the Sky,” a traffic reporter for Q105 WRBQ in the 1980’s. She later left for a short while to work in Houston but returned and took a job at 100.7 WUSA-FM as a member of the "Bob & Judd" morning show team.
In 1995 local Fox TV affiliate WTVT knocked on Nancy’s door with an offer of a part-time job as an entertainment reporter and she took it. A year later she left radio to devote all of her energies to her TV work and developed a reputation for outrageous stories on a segment called “Out There” on the station’s 10 p.m. newscast. She was also featured in brief on-air announcements that promoted the station’s daytime and primetime programming.
Nancy returned to radio in 1999, replacing Mason Dixon on Clear Channel’s Mix 100.7 WMTX morning show. She gained national attention in 2000 with her audition to replace Kathie Lee Gifford as co-host of the daytime TV show “Live with Regis.” Unfortunately, the nod went to “All My Children” alumnus, Kelly Ripa.
In 2004, she quit her TV work, saying she wanted to cut the stress that goes with maintaining two jobs and needed to spend more time with her family. Then, in 2009, after ten years co-hosting mornings, Clear Channel switched her to afternoons, before deciding not to renew her contract two years later and letting her go.
