Glen Hill
Glen grew up in Lakeland’s Lake Bonny neighborhood and spent a lot of time hanging around WLAK, the local NBC affiliate a few blocks down the street from his home. He eventually got into the business and made stops at Winter Haven’s WINT, Sarasota’s WYND, and Lakeland’s WQPD before moving to Miami. There, he became the producer and sidekick to talk show host Neil Rogers who nicknamed him “The Bird” because of his cackling laugh and dry delivery.
In 1989, during the pair’s stint at WIOD, Glen was booted from the show in a joint decision by station management and Rogers, and the two went their separate ways. Rogers remained in Miami and Glen, whose health was on the decline from a disabling illness, moved back to Lakeland in 1990. His last radio work was in the mid 1990’s as a board op on News/Talk 1430 WLKF.
Glen passed away in 2000 at the age of 51 in a Lakeland nursing home.
