Ed Pendino
Ed was a graduate of Tampa’s Jefferson High School and landed his first radio job (as Ed Brown) in 1965 playing country music for Art Rueben’s WYOU in Tampa. Three years later, he moved to Leesburg to work at another Reuben-owned property, WZST-AM 1410. Ironically WZST was WYOU’s previous set of call letters. In 1971, he was back in Tampa Bay working full-time for General Telephone Company until returning to radio at WHBO around 1977.
The Tampa native became a contract engineer for WTMP in 1981 when Warren Kauffman, who built the night site, left to work for Florida Power, and he’s been there ever since. His contract work also has him taking care of WQBN.
Over the years Ed has done contract engineering for various other Tampa Bay stations as well as behind the scenes work on numerous college and pro sports broadcasts.
