Jeff Kapugi
Born and raised in Chicago, Jeff worked at the Columbia College campus radio station, WCRX, and graduated from there in 1988. His early on-air work in his home state included time with WXLC in Waukegan and WJTW in Joliet. In 1989, he became the original overnight jock at The Power Pig, Tampa’s WFLZ, and took the music director’s position (and eventually the program director’s slot) before ending his eight years there. He also spent a year or so as PD for WDUV (The Dove) before assuming similar chores and an airshift in 1997 at Z107-7 KSLZ in St. Louis.
In 2000 he was named operations manager for Clear Channel’s Tampa Bay cluster (WFLZ/WSSR/WBTP/WMTX). Five years later he was promoted to PD of the company’s Washington CHR/Top 40 WIHT (Hot 99.5) and OM for its DC and Baltimore stations.
After returning to Chicago and serving as senior vice-president and COO of the Tribune Company’s Tribune Interactive, Jeff is today (2011) PD for the Windy City’s US 99.5 WUSN and vice president of country programming for CBS Radio.
