Charlie Ochs
Charlie is from Klamath Falls, Oregon and studied at the University of Oregon, Southern Oregon University, and Arizona State University. He began his radio career in the early 1960’s in Klamath Falls, Oregon and worked his way up to mornings at KNIX in Phoenix, PD at Houston’s KIKK, and vice-president and general manager of KCBQ AM/FM San Diego. Along the way, he was a decorated U.S. Army Sergeant and combat correspondent in Vietnam in 1968.
From 1987 to 1990 he was VP and GM at Tampa Bay Infinity stations WQYK AM/FM before departing for like positions at WMZQ AM/FM, WJZW, and WBZS with Viacom and AMFM Broadcasting in Washington, DC from 1990- 2000. He returned to the bay area in 2000 as senior vice-president and market manager for CBS-owned stations WLLD-FM, WQYK AM/FM, WRBQ-FM, WSJT-FM and WYUU-FM.
Charlie left radio in September 2008 and established Ochs Media, a management and creative consulting firm for media and other businesses, and work as a financial planner with Prudential. In early 2015, he returned to the medium to manage Beasley’s Money Talk 1010 WHFS-AM in Tampa. The following year, he started co-hosting a daily talk show with Tampa Bay radio icon Mason Dixon, the morning guy on sister station Q105 WRBQ.
