Tom Moore
Tom Moore was an announcer and host for several network radio shows in the 1940’s and 50’s, including the audience participation shows “Ladies Fair” (1950-1954) and “Florida Calling” (1954-55). Both shows aired live from the Florida Citrus Building in Winter Haven over the Mutual network and WSIR weekday mornings.
In a partnership established in 1955 with station founder Larry Rollins, bookkeeper Nellie Barber, and chief engineer Orden Craig, the San Antonio, Texas native became president of Hundred Lakes Broadcasting, which owned WSIR. However, his association with the station lasted only a few years before his interest was acquired by the other stockholders.
Moore died in 1986 at the age of 73.
