Neil Spencer

Neil was a retired captain in the Army Reserves who had served during World War II. After working for WOR in New York, he moved to Tampa Bay in 1946 and spent thirteen years as an engineer for St. Pete’s WTSP and WLCY before joining WILZ in St. Pete Beach as chief engineer for five years.

An avid amateur radio operator for some seventy-five years, the Hounsfield, N.Y. native made his home in Largo and passed away at Bayfront Medical Center in 1998 at the age of 91.
