John Dalton

With high school and a course at the Columbia School of Broadcasting behind him, John landed his first full-time job in radio with Bob Martin’s Tampa country daytimer WHBO in 1969. The following year, he was doing overnights at WDAE.

In the 70’s, he was known as John Scott with WQYK and WYOU and Ron Jordon at Sun Country WSUN. He also did air work at WPAS in Zephyrhills, St. Pete Beach’s WILZ, and Tampa’s W-101 and WFLA.

His work, however, hasn’t all been in Tampa Bay. He also worked out of the area for a number of years at stations like Atlanta’s WKLS, WBIR and WRJZ in Knoxville, Music City USA’s WSIX, WBKJ in Jackson, Mississippi, WKTK in Gainesville (FL) and, in the 1990’s, New Port Richey’s WGUL. He joined Jacksonville’s Lite 96.1 WEJZ in 1999, using his real name on the air, and spent nearly ten years in middays. After leaving there in 2008, he bought a Subway restaurant in the suburb of Orange Park and then sold it three years later.

Today (2012), John is retired and lives in the Jacksonville area.
