Jeff Thornburg

Although he was born in Japan, Jeff is a 1983 graduate of Lake Wales High School who worked at WIPC in Lake Wales during his high school days. Following graduation he earned his Bachelor Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute in Tampa and Indianapolis. While attending classes in Indianapolis, Jeff worked for the Indiana Higher Education Telecommunications System, a statewide video network of college campuses linked together by microwave, computer, and telephone systems, which allowed students to attend classes close to their home and work.

Following college, Jeff returned to Polk County and joined his parents, Tom and Susan Thornburg, in the family business at WBF in Bartow where he is the Chief Engineer, the person responsible for maintaining the working operation of the station. He also created and maintains the station’s website and, since 1990, has hosted the popular WBF Shopper program, the station’s classified column of the air, mornings from 9 to 10am.

An avid sports fan, Jeff’s top three include racing, football and hockey. He is also very active in his church and enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Kim, and their son, Christopher.
