Jim Kowalski

Jim has experienced both radio and television in his 40+ years as a broadcast engineer. Early on, he picked up on-air experience with his high school radio club at WTRW-AM in his hometown of Two Rivers, Wisconsin and then moved on to stations in Missouri and Michigan after graduation.

In 1977, he moved to Florida as chief engineer and director of engineering for Sebring’s WSEB, and then followed it with a seventeen-year stretch in a like capacity at cross-town competitor WJCM. While there, he formed a contract engineering consulting business and worked with client stations from Orlando to Arcadia before moving to Ft. Myers’ WINK Radio/TV and co-owned Meridian Broadcasting in 1995.

Since leaving the Sunshine State in 2006, he’s been an assistant chief engineer with Clear Channel’s Nashville cluster (which included the historic WLAC) and Cincinnati cluster (including the legendary WLW and WCKY).

Today (2012), Jim is an owner/partner in James L. Kowalski and Associates Broadcast Engineering, LLC and director of engineering for Kindred Communications, headquartered in Huntington, West Virginia.
