Billy Love

This native Kentuckian was called “Big” Billy Love (Bill Herold) when he worked nights at Orlando’s WHOO in the mid to late 1960’s because he was 6’6” and weighed some 240 pounds. Although born outside Georgetown, KY, he was raised a bit further east in Paintsville where he was a high school sophomore with all-state honors in football and band when he landed his first radio job at WSIP, the local station.

Bill has been a part of some really great stations in his career including legendary rockers WHK in Cleveland, WPOP in Hartford, and WKLO in Louisville. In addition to WHOO, his work has also taken him to WKGN in Knoxville, WSLR in Akron, WDOD in Chattanooga, WFBC in Greenville/Spartanburg, WBKR in Owensboro, KY, and WLAP in Lexington, KY.

Today (2009) Bill does mid-days on WKDQ-FM in Evansville, IN where he’s been since 1992. Be sure to visit his website at www.bigbilllove.com.
