Howard R. Trickey

Howard’s career spanned nearly 55 years in broadcasting and included extensive experience in both and television and radio. He served with Hubbard Broadcasting from 1968 to 1979 as general manager of WTOG-TV in St. Petersburg, Cypress Gardens’ WGTO (for a period in the mid 70’s), KSTP-FM in Minneapolis, and WYUR-TV in Huntsville, AL. Earlier, he had been general manager of WLUK-TV in Green Bay, WI, and general sales manager at WEAU-TV in Eau Claire, WI.

After parting ways with Hubbard in 1979, he purchased and operated KCMG-FM in Anchorage, AK and KVOK AM/FM in Kodiak, AK until 1985, then joined Family Group Broadcasting where he built and managed WLAX-TV in La Crosse, WI and WVFT-TV in Roanoke, VA. In 1990 he became executive VP of Petracom Broadcasting.

Trickey retired in 1998 and today (2014) lives in St. Petersburg.
