Before he was out of high school Dave had his first radio job, working part-time at Auburndale daytimer WTWB in 1980. This led to an early Sunday morning Christian music show, Wake Up, on WQPD, followed by his move to central Florida’s premiere Christian station, FM 91 WCIE, to host the popular Living Water on Saturday afternoons. After graduating from Evangel Christian School in 1982, the station had a full-time position waiting for him on the overnight shift. After a time, he was promoted to evenings from six to midnight.
In 1984 Dave left radio to pursue other interests which included joining a local rock band called First Degree. But it’s hard to get radio out of your blood when you’ve had a taste of it and after a couple of years he returned to the airwaves, only this time at WCIE sister station WJIS in Sarasota doing the morning show.
Dave left radio again in 1988 to help run his dad’s Lakeland business, Miller Safe and Lock, but returned to WCIE in 1990 to host the morning show. He was eventually named Program Director there and stayed with the station until it was sold to Moody Bible Institute in the mid 1990’s.
Since 1997, Dave has run his own production company and today (2006) lives with his wife and two sons in Nashville.
