Earl Rahrer

An announcer and radio engineer at Lakeland’s WLAK in the 1950’s, Earl formed WLAK Electronics with station chief engineer, Bill Lee. The business was an electronics and communications company and had its beginnings in a small building adjacent to the WLAK studios on East Lime Street. It later relocated to larger quarters on Gary Road before moving to Combee Road where it was renamed WLAK Communications. The family-owned business was sold in 1997 and became WTEC.

Earl was a kind, soft-spoken man and passed away December 17, 2015 at the age of 89.
