Laurie Krosney
Laurie worked at WONN from 1978 to 1985 and was a news anchor and reporter for the station. It was also her only job in radio. After leaving the radio station, she worked at Polk Community College from 1986 to 1995 as Director of the New Beginnings program.
Before coming to WONN, Laurie, a native of Mankato, Minnesota, worked for the Children’s Television Workshop in the production of the award-winning PBS children’s program Sesame Street from 1968 to 1974. She started there as a production assistant and, by the time she left, was an associate producer with liaison duties to the Muppets.
Already having a background in news made it easy for Laurie to shift to writing for a newspaper. Beginning in 1997 she spent two years with the Anna Maria Islander, and from 1999 until today she has worked for the Anna Maria Island Sun as a staff reporter.
Laurie has one son, Sam, who lives and works in St. Petersburg. As for herself, she enjoys the beach and lives on Anna Maria Island. How lucky can one be?
