Terry Roberts
Terry was originally from Jacksonville, Florida, but attended school and graduated from Lakeland High School. As Terry Allan on the air, he worked afternoon drive at Lakeland’s WONN during the station’s Top 40 days in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s before moving over to WQPD in 1972. Sandwiched between the two stations was a short gig at Lakeland country station WWAB. The remainder of the decade was spent working at several major Top 40 outlets in the state, including Miami’s WFUN and Orlando’s WBJW-FM BJ105.
Around 1982 he moved back to Lakeland and connected with Polk County’s top country station WPCV where he became afternoon drive’s “Smilin’ Jack Daniels” – a persona he kept for the rest of his radio career.
At WPCV, Terry had tremendous ratings, even at the time of his departure in 2001. He’s no longer in radio and today (2014) lives in Washington State.
