Henry Jay

Henry had been music director and program director at Plant City’s WPLA for about four years when he left in 1979 to do the night shift at WGTO at Cypress Gardens. He was soon named music director and his air shift moved to afternoon drive.

When Hubbard Broadcasting sold WGTO in 1986 and its format switched to religion, Henry left radio and went to work for the United States Postal Service. But he kept one foot in the business, working part-time at Polk County’s 97 Country WPCV. In 1997 he took over the Sunday night "Country Classics Show" which he continued hosting until his death in 2001.
